This black shirt was worn by legendary guitarist “Slash” (nee Saul Hudson), of the Rock groups Guns N' Roses, Snakepit and Velvet Revolver. The black sleeveless cotton shirt has a white graphic of Dead Kennedy's 1981 album cover which includes the words, “Too Drunk to Fuck” printed on the chest. Slash can be seen wearing the shirt while performing with Velvet Revolver on August 24th, 2004 in Munich, Germany on stage at Elserhalle. This item came directly from “The Collection of Slash” from Julien's Auctions Beverly Hills on March 26, 2011.
In addition to Slash, the super group Velvet Revolver includes rock legends Duff McKagan, Matt Sorum, Dave Kushner and formerly the vocalist Scott Weiland. The group toured Europe during 2004 with 22 shows in 15 countries, and the performance in Munich was part of their European leg of the “R&FN'R Tour”, which played a total of 185 shows worldwide from May 2004 to October 2006.
Slash is considered by many to be one of the greatest guitarists in the history of rock and roll. His opening riffs on such G N' R songs as “Sweet Child O' Mine” and “Paradise City” remain some of the most universally recognizable guitar parts ever written. Europe's best selling guitar magazine “Total Guitar” ranked his opening to “Sweet Child O' Mine” at # 1 of the “100 Greatest Riffs” list in 2004, and “Guitar World” listed his solo from “November Rain” as # 6 on their list of "The 100 Greatest Guitar Solos" in 2008. Slash was honored with a star on the Rock Walk of Fame in 2007.
The item is in good condition with minor evidence of wear. This shirt was acquired directly from Slash's personal wardrobe collection and is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity from The Golden Closet.
