This prop “cocaine spoon” was used by the character “Gina Montana” portrayed by actress Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio in the 1983 motion picture “Scarface” starring Al Pacino. The item is constructed of gold plated metal with spoon and blade ends.

The actress used this item notably during the sequence at the Babylon nightclub when “Tony Montana” (Al Pacino) notices his little sister Gina getting “friendly” with a man on the dance floor. After Gina and her partner exit the dance floor and go into the men’s bathroom, she uses this specific coke spoon to do drugs while in one of the men’s room stalls with her new friend. Tony then bursts in enraged, and kicks the man out before getting into a heated argument with Gina. The entire plot of “Scarface” is centered around the Miami cocaine trade in the 80’s, and this was one of a very limited number of prop drug paraphernalia items used onscreen, making at a rare iconic collectible from one of the film’s principle characters.

Brian De Palma’s gangster epic “Scarface” was a remake of the classic 1932 film starring Paul Muni, George Raft, and Boris Karloff. The screenplay was written by Oliver Stone and the film was nominated for three Golden Globes in 1984 including Best Actor (Al Pacino), Best Supporting Actor (Stephen Bauer), and Best Original Score (Giorgio Moroder). The film proved to be a breakout debut performance for Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio (who had only one un-credited performance as an extra in a previous film), and its ongoing popularity with fans has defined it as one of the greatest gangster films of all time.

The item is in very good condition with some minor patina due to age and is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from one of the property masters who retained the item in his personal possession after filming had been completed.
