This suit was worn by the character “Sylvio Malatesta” portrayed by Gilbert Roland in the 1957 motion picture “Midnight Story”, starring Tony Curtis and Marisa Pavan. This two-piece black and tan nail head weave suit consist of a jacket with two-button front closure, notched lapel, two lower slash pockets, matching pants with a double pleat front and cuffs. Internal “Schmidt & Gakuppo” labels with “Gilbert Roland, date 8/6/56, No 721” clearly typed in both garments.
Mr. Roland wears this suit at “Father Giuseppe’s” (John Cliff) funeral and then again later when he hugs his daughter “Anna” (Marisa Pavan) after she gets into a fight with “Joe” (Tony Curtis). The suit in excellent vintage condition and is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from the costume house.
